The team has been engaged in clinical and experimental studies of neurodegenerative disease in the elderly, and has carried a great deal of work focused on retinal biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease such as AD. In recent years, their research fields have been expanded into anesthesia neurotoxicity and perioperative neurocognitive disorders. In 2017, Anesthesia and Brain Research Institute, Tongji University School of Medicine was established, and a research team was founded which consisted with domestic disciplines such as psychiatry, anesthesiology, orthopedics, translation center and overseas disciplines such as geriatrics and anesthesiology of Harvard University. Currently, the research team has explored further in the influence of anesthetics and analgesia on neurodevelopment, cognitive function and tumor prognosis, and will focus on the research of anesthesia therapy and new targeted medicine in the future.
