The Shanghai Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine for mental health would implement the party and the country's policies for the development of traditional Chinese medicine. We aimed to investigate how the traditional Chinese medicine play a role in the prevention and treatment of common diseases, chronic diseases and intractable diseases. We also aimed to investigate if the traditional Chinese medicine would help improve the clinical efficacy, break through bottlenecks, solve technical problems, cultivate talents, and optimize discipline construction in psychotic diseases. Taking the Shanghai Mental Health Center as the main construction base, we would integrate the technical force and hardware implementation of the teams of the Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Furthermore, we would establish a research technological platform and a scientific research talent team with open service capabilities for mental disorder. We also promote the development of the advantages of mental disease discipline construction, establish and improve the theoretical system and clinical practice model of mental disorders. It would mainly include clinical research, basic research, and Chinese Medicine Literature Research.
