General Psychiatry (GPsych), an English academic journal sponsored by the Shanghai Mental Health Center, announced its first Impact Factor (IF) of 11.9 on June 28, 2023, as published by JCR (Journal Citation Reports) by Clarivate Analytics. This indicates that the journal has achieved a high impact factor score, placing it among the top 500 journals internationally.
Furthermore, among all 241 journals in the field of Psychiatry/Psychology indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, including SCIE, ESCI, and SSCI, General Psychiatry ranks 8th in terms of Impact Factor (IF). This demonstrates the excellent achievement in recent years.

According to the latest rules by Clarivate Analytics, starting from 2023, ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) journals will also be assigned an Impact Factor. General Psychiatry was included in the ESCI database of Web of Science in May 2019. It is also indexed in databases such as PubMed, SCOPUS, ProQuest, PsycINFO, DOAJ, CSCD and EBSCO. But we ranked first place among all 47 Psychiatry/Psychology ESCI journals, far ahead of other psychiatry ESCI journals. Additionally, it is recognized as a core journal by CSCD (Chinese Science Citation Database) and Statistical Source Core Journals.
The editorial board of the journal currently consists of 92 members, with 54% of them being international board members. Among the editorial board members, 13 serve as editors of several internationally renowned psychiatric journals. General Psychiatry publishes an average of over 60 articles annually from international authors, including those from the China, United States, Australia, New Zealand, India, and the United Kingdom. The authors come from a total of 11 countries worldwide. According to the journal data from 2022, articles from General Psychiatry have been accessed by scholars from various countries, including Europe, the United States, India, Russia, and Japan, with 60% of the visits coming from the United States. The journal's click rates and download rates have been continuously increasing.

General Psychiatry, previously known as "Shanghai Archives Of Psychiatry," was founded in 1959 and is the first professional psychiatric journal in China. It is hosted by the Shanghai Mental Health Center and published in collaboration with BMJ Publishing Group.
Professor Xu Yifeng, the Director of the Brain Health Research Institute at the Shanghai Mental Health Center, serves as the Editor-in-Chief, while Professor Chen Jinghong serves as the Executive Editor. The journal mainly publishes original research in the field of psychiatry and neuroscience related to brain disorders. It also features specialized sections on biostatistics research related to mental disorders, meta-analyses and systematic reviews, thematic forums, and brain science research related to mental and psychological health.
In the Scopus database, the journal has a CiteScore of 18.9, ranking among the top 1.5% of journals. The CiteScore Tracker 2023, reflecting the current score, is even higher at 21.6. It was indexed in the ESCI database in May 2019, and is also listed in PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, DOAJ, and CSCD. In 2019, it was selected for the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan. From 2016 to 2022, it received the title of "China International Influential Excellent Academic Journal" for six consecutive years. In 2023, it was also awarded the title of "China's Most Influential Academic Journal". It is an outstanding journal in China that ranks among the top 1%.
