On the morning of March 25th, Shanghai Mental Health Center (SMHC) was honored to host a distinguished delegation comprising representatives from the British Consulate and the esteemed medical education sector for an enriching exchange visit. The delegation boasted a lineup of notable individuals, including Mike McCourt, the Director of Healthcare at the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou; Sally Souraya, Head of Partnership at the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK; Chris Abbott, Chief Medical Officer at Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust; Paul Dugmore, Director of Education; Maggie Hong, Chief Operation Officer of GDK MedI UK Ltd; Kim Chen, General Manager of the London Medical Exchange; Zhu Li, Customer Manager at Elsevier; Sarah Jin, Senior Life Science and Healthcare Officer at the British Consulate General in Chongqing; Helen Tan, Senior Education and Skills Officer at the British Consulate General in Guangzhou; and Zhihao Feng, Head of Digital Health at the British Embassy.

During the visit, President Min Zhao, the President of Shanghai Mental Health Center, as well as Vice-Presidents Chunbo Li, Yuan Shen, Zhen Wang, and other esteemed department heads from Shanghai Mental Health Center engaged in the exchange activity. Vice-President Yuan Shen commenced the session by providing an insightful overview of SMHC's core operations and initiatives. The goal of the exchange was to identify possible areas of cooperation, with a particular focus on mood disorders, child and adolescent mental health, adult mental health, and other relevant subjects. The discussion included a wide range of topics, including quality assurance, education and training initiatives, talent development programs, clinical practices, medical services, and publishing opportunities in prestigious academic publications.

Over the years, Shanghai Mental Health Center has fostered collaborative partnerships and inked strategic cooperation agreements with various universities and medical institutions in the UK specializing in mental health. Leveraging this robust foundation, the visit was pivotal in further bolstering collaboration between China and the UK, with a shared goal of advancing professional talent development and enhancing clinical services in our respective domains.
